Homecoming to Celebrate Silverthorne Snowboarders

Published April 19, 2018

Following a highly competitive professional snowboard season that put several Silverthorne athletes on the world map, we’re excited to welcome our local Olympic and Paralympic athletes home to Colorado.  Join us for a community celebration on Saturday, April 28 to honor those athletes who call Silverthorne home and who competed in the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic games in Pyeongchang, South Korea including Red Gerard, Kyle Mack, Chris Corning and Jimmy Sides.

The event will kick-off at 10:45 a.m. with a processional along Rainbow Drive from the Silverthorne Outlet Overflow Parking Lot, adjacent to Chipotle, to the Silverthorne Recreation Center where we will host a community rally in the gymnasium.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to hear from the athletes themselves who will be presented with a key to the city by Mayor Ann-Marie Sandquist, and who will be answering questions from selected Silverthorne Elementary School students. There will also be photo and autograph opportunities with the athletes as well as live music from high-energy, nine-piece band Homeslice. The event MC will be Silverthorne resident and KUSA 9-News reporter, Matt Renoux, who was in Pyeongchang to experience the Winter Games first-hand.  Additionally, patriotic music will be played by members of the Summit Concert Band and Summit High School Band.

Following the rally, the celebration will continue at local breweries Angry James, Baker’s Brewery and the Dillon DAM Brewery who will be hosting “Medalthorne” beer release parties, tapping the first kegs of their collaboration ale, Medalthorne.

We hope to see you there!
