Caring for the Community
Published April 28, 2020
Many people have come together in our community during this time of need to support neighbors, friends and strangers. Others have shown that they have always been there for those in need, like Lenka Lesmerises and her in-home care group, Lenka’s Loving Care.
Lenka’s Loving Care is an in-home health care agency that provides non-medical assistance to seniors and those in need. In Summit County, Lenka’s Loving Care is the only Department of Health licensed care agency, filling a much needed niche in the community. The agency provides respite care, care giving (showers, feeding, and toileting), pet care, house cleaning, shopping, meal preparation, and transportation for those in need of assistance. Services are customized for each individual to meet their unique needs and living situation.
“What we do truly matters and makes a difference in people’s lives. We want to make sure that every person in our community is treated with dignity and respect and that they get the high quality loving care they deserve,” says Lenka.
Working with people across the community, Lenka says that strong and loving connections are created with all of their clients. “After we spend time helping someone, getting to know them and listening to their stories, we feel close to them just as if they were our own family member.”
And Lenka knows all about family and loving connections. She moved to Summit County from Chocen, Czech Republic 17 years ago to explore and work on a J1 visa. Four days after her arrival, she met her future husband in Silverthorne. She says that while it is not what she had planned for her future as she had always wanted to live in her hometown, now she is lucky to have two homes.
Lenka’s favorite things about Silverthorne and surrounding Summit County are the beautiful natural surroundings, all of the outdoor activities, and of course, the amazing people.
If you have family or friends in need of Lenka’s Loving Care’s services, they can provide help now or you can purchase gift cards that can be used at any time by calling 970-412-4168. Otherwise, you can normally catch Lenka starting her day at the Silverthorne Recreation Center, grabbing a coffee from Red Buffalo Café, playing beach volleyball at Rainbow Park or with her family at a First Friday, having dinner at Sauce on the Blue, or Angry James. We look forward to seeing Lenka and her family, and all of our other community members out and about in the weeks ahead!
