People are excited about Silverthorne Recreation and Culture Director Joanne Cook’s work. Get to Know: Local Artist Kia Neill

Kia Neill is a multi-discipline artist working in mixed media drawing, painting, photography and sculpture. She bounced around from Chicago to California to Houston and finally landed in Colorado. You can see her work in places like Hobby International Airport in Houston and The Children’s Museum of Denver Mariposa Campus. Neill recently was a guest artist at The Wilderness Workshop in Aspen and currently has her digital collage work in the exhibition “It’s Elementary” at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center. Last week artist Michael Graves from Denver set up shop outside the Performing Arts Center to paint a mural on the south facing wall of the outdoor stage. Michael’s work was recommended by the Art Selection Committee, approved by the Art Board, and funding was approved by Town Council for his colorful and whimsical project. Pumpkins, Witches and Ghosts… Oh My!

Round up the kids and head to Rainbow Park this Sunday, October 8 from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. for Silverthorne’s largest community gathering at the free Pumpkin Fest. Business Spotlight: High Country ARTisans

A new co-op gallery called High Country ARTisans has just opened in the Outlets at Silverthorne to sell a variety of art forms and host artist demonstrations for the public. High Country ARTisans started about six years ago at Keystone Lake. The 18 artists who make up the co-op live throughout the Summit County area and have come from all over including California, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, New York and New Jersey. Silverthorne Performing Arts Center Grand Opening Symbolizes New Beginnings

On Saturday, June 24, the Town of Silverthorne and Lake Dillon Theatre Company (LDTC) celebrated the opening of the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center with a day chock full of ceremonies, artful performances and entertainment attended by hundreds of Silverthorne residents and visitors alike. The day’s festivities culminated with the inaugural performance of “Sister Act,” which like all LDTC shows to date, has sold out each show, and has limited tickets available through its final performance on August 13.
